If you skipped New Year’s celebrations and instead joined the IWAK Golden Charity Christmas Party on 7 December 2019, you won the lottery! The interiors of Avangarda welcomed all the guests with the unparalleled atmosphere of interwar Kraków. IWAK members celebrated the most important night of the year in a very elegant and modest style suited to a charity event. The evening was filled with outstanding participants, a positive attitude, high-quality meals prepared with home-grown products, and beverages that gave a lot of confidence to non-dancing guests later on that evening! Lots of surprises!
Avangarda Restaurant is a historic touch of the interwar period in the heart of the city. It is also the perfect spot to rediscover traditional Polish and European cuisine in an inspiring Art Nouveau interior. Feel the still-present spirit of the old Garrison Club frequently visited by Józef Pilsudski, the First Marshal of Poland. It is also here that the poet Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński founded one of Kraków’s oldest cabarets Siedem kotów (Seven Cats).
The Party was led by the President of the IWAK Committee, Anna Meysztowicz, who ensured everyone was comfortable and also that everything was sparkling that night. She could not have done it without the one and only Hailey Rębisz, who had everything under control during the evening.
Our other guests included members of Kraków’s Loża Kobiet Biznesu (Women’s Business Group) and the Head of the Centre of Autism, Mrs Urszula Gurba with her lovely husband Leszek, who won a bottle of wine as well as a silent auction bid.
The Golden Charity Christmas Party had the goal of raising as much money as possible for the Centre of Autism in Kraków. We have achieved this thanks to our sponsors, guests and the Committee, as well as the very talented Tamara Matvisin who led the auction and made all the guests grab the items like candies! What unforgettable fun it was to experience her performance that night. We are all aware she can spread magic!
Owing to the range of items donated, our bidders and all who decided to support the cause, IWAK managed to raise 10,000 PLN for the refurbishment of the social and kitchen area at the Centre of Autism. This is quite a good result given the number of guests this year. The main auction items included dining at the Spice of India, a scenic helicopter flight, art pieces, vouchers for guided tours following food tastes in our city, spa treatments and many more thanks to our generous sponsors.
Aside from the live auction, as always, during the night guests could also browse and bid on a variety of lovely silent auction items, such as cosmetics, hotel stays, homemade items, vouchers for a visit to the nutritionist and personal training. It was all for IWAK members and their well-being.
The final hours of the night were filled with lots of activity on the dance floor. Thanks to DJ Marcin of BP Events we met a lot of good artists who sang that night.
We look forward to seeing you in 2020 to repeat this experience.
